How to add a watermark to a PDF

Select the PDF.
Type the watermark text, for example CONFIDENTIAL, DRAFT or a company name.
Choose the position (centre or a corner), opacity, size, angle and colour. Press Preview first page to check how it looks.
Press Add watermark. The watermarked file downloads to your device.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The file is read and changed inside your browser tab and is never sent to a server. There is no sign-up and no watermark added by us.

Is the watermark on every page?

Yes. The same text is placed in the centre of every page, at the angle and opacity you choose.

Can I remove the watermark later?

The text is drawn into the page, so it is not a hidden layer. Use the PDF Watermark Remover only on files you own or have permission to change.

Why does it say the PDF could not be read?

Some PDFs are password-protected. Unlock them first, then add the watermark.
