Privacy

What happens to your files, the text you type, and the data this website collects. Last updated 16 October 2026.

Most tools: your file stays on your deviceThe file or text you give the tool is read and processed by your own browser. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

Four tools use our serverAI Text Detector, PDF AI Text Checker, Watermark Remover and JSON Query Playground. Each one says so on the page. What you send is processed and then discarded, not stored.

Analytics and adsGoogle Analytics counts page visits and Google AdSense shows ads. Both use cookies. Neither is given your files or the text you put into a tool.

What “your file never leaves your browser” means

On most TinyPDF.in tools, such as Compress, Merge and Split PDF, OCR PDF, Sensitive Info Finder, Blur Faces, JSON Compare and the database playgrounds, the work happens inside your browser tab. The file you choose, and the text, JSON or SQL you type, are read and processed on your device. Their contents are never sent to TinyPDF.in or to anyone else. The result is made on your device too, and is saved by your browser when you press Download.

To be precise, a web page still makes some requests while you use it. None of them carry your file or your text:

The page and its code. Your browser downloads the page from tinypdf.in. It may also download program libraries from jsDelivr or cdnjs, fonts from Google Fonts, OCR language data (for reading scans), a database engine (for the playgrounds) or an embedding model from Hugging Face (for the pgvector Playground). These are the same downloads for every visitor.

Addresses you ask for. If you preview an email with images in it, the images load from the addresses written in the email, as they would in an inbox. If you send a request to a URL in the REST API Playground, your browser contacts that address.

Like any website visit, these requests show the server your IP address and browser type.

🔍 Check it yourself: open your browser’s developer tools (F12), choose the Network tab, then use a tool. You will see that no request carries your file or your data.

What your browser keeps on your device

Some tools remember things between visits in your browser’s own storage (local storage), for example:

the light or dark theme you picked
settings
the last query in a playground editor

This stays on your device and is not sent to us. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes it.

Tools that use our server

Four tools cannot run in the browser, so what you give them is sent to our server. Each of these pages shows a notice before you use it.

Watermark Remover	The PDF you choose	Our server only.
JSON Query Playground	Your JSON and your query	Our server, in a temporary database. For a version that runs in your browser, use JSON Query (SQL).

What happens to it:

It is kept only while your request is processed: in memory, or for the Watermark Remover in a temporary file that is deleted straight after.
It is not logged and not stored. It is discarded as soon as you get your result.
We do not use it to train models and do not share it with anyone other than the services named above.

Keep sensitive documents for the tools that run in your browser.

To limit abuse, these tools use Google reCAPTCHA, which is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms. They also count requests per IP address for a short time.

JSON Query API keys

If you sign in with Google to get an API key for JSON Query, we store:

your Google account ID and email address
a fingerprint (hash) of your key, not the key itself
when the key was created
a daily count of requests

Analytics, ads and cookies

Google Analytics tells us which pages are visited. It records:

the page address
where the visit came from
your device and browser type
your approximate location

It uses cookies. It does not receive the files or text you use in a tool.

Google AdSense shows ads on this site:

Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to show ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites.
Google’s advertising cookies let it and its partners show you ads based on your visits here and elsewhere.
You can turn off personalised ads in Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some other vendors’ cookies at aboutads.info.
Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland are asked for consent first.

Ad and analytics scripts run on the same page as the tool. TinyPDF.in does not pass your files or text to them. Google may read the public text of our pages to choose relevant ads, but it does not see the file you open or what you type into a tool. The tools work normally with an ad blocker.

Other points

No account needed. You can use every tool without signing up. The only sign-in is the optional Google sign-in for JSON Query API keys.
Children. This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Your choices. You can block or delete cookies in your browser, and clear this site’s data to remove what the tools remember. To ask about or delete anything we hold about you (only API key details), email us.
Changes. If this page changes, the date at the top changes with it.
