How to compare two PDF files

See what changed between two versions of a PDF, such as a contract, a report or an invoice. Removed text is marked red and added text is marked green.

  1. Select the original PDF and the modified PDF.
  2. Press Compare PDFs.
  3. Read the summary of changed, added and removed pages, then scroll both versions side by side.

Questions

What does the comparison find?

Text that was added, removed or edited, page by page, and pages that were added or removed.

Can it compare scanned PDFs?

Only PDFs with real text. A scan is a picture of a page, so run it through OCR PDF first.

Does it compare images or layout?

No. It compares the text of the two files.

Are my PDFs uploaded?

No. Both files are read and compared inside your browser tab and are never sent to a server.
