Image PII Finder & Redactor

Upload a photo or screenshot (a scanned form, an ID, a receipt) to find sensitive text hiding in it - then optionally black it out before you share the image.

🔒 Your image stays on your device The image is read and scanned locally in your browser using OCR. Nothing is uploaded to a server.
⚠️ Highlighting is automatic; hiding is not. This scans and highlights possible sensitive text for you to review. Nothing is blacked out until you tick which findings to hide and press the confirm button yourself. Name and address detection only catches labeled fields (like "Name:" or "Address:") - it can't recognize a name or address written into a plain sentence. Click directly on any word in the image after scanning to manually mark it for redaction too.

Aadhaar numbers are masked the usual way: the first 8 digits are hidden and the last 4 stay visible. For Aadhaar PDFs, use Mask Aadhaar.

💡 Click any word directly on the image below to mark or unmark it for redaction, in addition to the automatic findings.

Redaction paints solid black boxes directly into the image pixels and re-exports it - this also strips the original file's metadata (like embedded GPS location), since the exported image is freshly generated with none of that data carried over.

How this works

The tool reads the text in your image inside this browser tab and marks anything that looks like an email, phone number, SSN, card number, IP address or bank account number. The same checks are used in the PDF Sensitive Info Finder.

It looks for known formats, so it can miss things or misread a poor photo. Check the results yourself.
