Blur faces in a video online, free and private
This free tool hides the faces of bystanders, children or anyone who did not agree to be filmed. Choose a clip, click each face once, and the tool follows it through the whole video. Your video stays on your device.
Your video is never sent to a server, and you do not need an account or a paid plan to get a video without a watermark.
- Free, no sign-up
- No watermark
- Nothing is uploaded
Up to 2 minutes, 200 MB, and 1920 pixels on the long edge (60 seconds and 100 MB in browsers without fast video support). Many iPhones record 4K by default, which is too large: set the camera to 1080p, or trim the clip first.
Why use this free video face blur
Follows the face
Select a person once. The blur moves with them before and after the frame you picked, even when they turn or step behind something.
You stay in control
A second check lists other faces it saw, and you decide who to blur. Wrong pick? Click it again to remove it.
Private by design
The video is processed inside your browser tab. It is never sent to a server, and the result has no watermark.
How to blur a face in a video for free
- Choose your video. An MP4 or MOV from your phone works best.
- Pick the faces. Move to a frame where the person is clear and click their face, or drag a box around it.
- Choose a look. Strong pixelates and blurs; Soft only blurs. Strong sensitivity catches fast movers.
- Check and download. Watch the result, fix any missed frame, then save the MP4 with the original sound.
When it helps
- Street or event footage with people in the background
- Vlogs and clips where bystanders did not agree to appear
- Videos of children before sharing them online
- Interviews where a person wants to stay anonymous
- Footage sent to a school, workplace or insurer
Questions
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser, on your device. Closing the tab removes it.
Does it cost anything or add a watermark?
It is free, needs no account, and the video comes out without a watermark.
Is it really private? Do I need an account?
No account is needed. Your video is opened and edited inside your browser tab and is never sent to a server. The page itself loads like any website, and the site counts page visits, but your video file and the faces in it stay on your device.
How do I blur a face in a video on iPhone or Android?
Open this page in a recent Chrome or Safari on your phone and tap Choose a video to pick a clip from your gallery. On a paused frame, tap the face to select it. The buttons under the slider move 1 or 2 seconds, or one frame, to find a clear frame. Press Find and track faces, choose whether to blur any other faces it found, then create the video, watch it through, and download. If your iPhone records in 4K, set the camera to 1080p or trim the clip first, as the page accepts up to 1920 pixels on the long edge.
Can I blur a child's face in a video?
Yes. Select the child the same way as any other person. Children move quickly and are often turned away or partly hidden, so keep Strong sensitivity on, watch the "Check these moments first" list, and use "fix this frame" for any spot where the blur slips. Always watch the whole result before you share it.
Can I blur one person and leave the others visible?
Yes. Only the people you select are blurred, plus any others you choose from the second check. Anyone you leave unticked stays visible.
Will it catch every face?
No tool can promise that. Faces that appear for less than a fifth of a second, or are turned fully away, can be missed. That is why you review the result and can fix any frame before downloading.
Which videos work?
Clips up to 2 minutes and 200 MB, up to 1920 pixels on the long edge. Phone MP4 and MOV files work best.
Can I choose how strong the blur is?
You can pick Strong (pixelated and blurred) or Soft (blur only), and a Strong or Mild sensitivity for following people who move quickly.
How long does it take?
A 20 to 30 second phone clip usually takes about a minute on a recent phone, and keep the tab open and in front while it works.
